Window glazing is the actual glass within a window. Glass is mounted in the window with the assistance of glazing putty and a frame that supports the glass and hold it in place. The act of replacing glass is known as “reglazing.” There are a number of reasons to reglaze a window; ranging from the need to replace broken glass to a desire to outfit a window with more energy efficient glass.
Low-E (low-emissive) glass is glass that has been treated with a thin metal or metal-oxide coating that reflects heat, but does not compromise visibility. Windows treated with Low-E are proven to reduce energy consumption, cut sunlight glare, and prevent sunlight damage to carpets, furnishings, and window treatments.
Knowing when to replace your home’s windows isn’t always as clear as it may seem. If your home is older than 15 years, it’s probably a good time to check and make sure your windows are still operating correctly. For instance, do you have trouble opening or closing your windows? Do you consistently find moisture on your windows’ interior? Do you feel a draft when your windows are closed? That could be a sign that the seals have failed. Just like your washing machine, refrigerator, or roof shingles, over time, your windows and doors need to be replaced.
Although Henry’s Glass started as an auto glass shop in the 1960′s, unfortunately we no longer replace any auto glass; including small interior mirrors and windshields.
